Goodies

YUMMY ILLUSTRATIONS

No matter where you are from, food is something we relate to in our heritage, cultures, and daily lives. It brings people together in so many ways.

Imagine you are a genuine foodie and food photographer. You love food and want to promote the goodness of food & beverages.

Here is one of my favorite people & she makes a living doing just this!

CHOICE No.1: In your visual journal, using a 1 to 2-page spread (vertical or horizontal), produce a detailed drawing of edibles…candy, fruit, veggies, desserts, coffee, tea, etc. with a ground (background, secondary or cast shadow).

***If you choose this one, you should be drawing from observation! If it is something that will deteriorate quickly, then you need to set up a light source and take a photo of your object/food with your phone to look at later. However, you need to draw the majority of the work from observation!

Medium: Try combining 2 to 3 media!

Examples:

– watercolor, color pencil, and pen & ink

– marker, color pencil, and pen & ink

ILLUSTRATED RECIPES

CHOICE No.2: In your visual journal, using a 2-page spread (vertical or horizontal), illustrate one of your favorite recipes or one that gives us a glimpse into your heritage, culture, or family. One of my mother’s recipes that our family treasures is her sweet potato crunch! What is yours? What ingredients are needed, how much of each ingredient, and what are the directions? It is a visual representation of a recipe!
